Artist Statement
My art is a dialogue between the forgotten and the present, capturing the essence of individuals who have made significant, yet often unrecognized, contributions to our society. Each portrait is a labor of love and meticulous craftsmanship, intended to not only resurrect these heroes from obscurity but also to evoke a profound sense of their enduring impact.
In addition to my portraits, nature plays a crucial role in my creative process. The wilderness offers me a sanctuary of reflection and inspiration, providing a contrast to the human stories I portray. My frequent hikes and explorations in the Rockies and beyond are more than just physical journeys; they are an opportunity to connect with the raw, unfiltered beauty of the natural world, which in turn enriches my artistic vision.
Through my work, I aim to honor the legacies of those who have been marginalized and to inspire a deeper appreciation for the intricate tapestry of human experience, always with a mindful nod to the natural world that continually shapes and informs my perspective.
